Everything Matters

This “Kyoto Incense” is meticulously crafted by a nearly 200-year-old traditional Buddhist altar shop in Kyoto, with attention to every detail. We created something we would genuinely want to use at home.

Incense is something used daily. To ensure that our customers can easily enjoy something used every day, we paid meticulous attention to even the size of the box, down to the millimeter, to reduce costs.

While we understand that preferences for incense can vary from person to person, we believe we have created a product that everyone will at least find “a little luxurious.” That’s why we named it “A Little Luxurious Kyoto Incense.”

sandalwoodsandalwood

Sandalwood: A Fragrant Wood with Deep Cultural Roots

Sandalwood is an aromatic wood known for its powerful scent, even without being heated. This tropical evergreen tree is native to regions like India and Indonesia, and it has been used for centuries not only as an incense wood but also as a fragrant material in woodcraft. The unique aroma of sandalwood has made it a popular choice for making items like fans, prayer beads, and Buddhist statues. Its fragrance is distinctive, blending a refreshing cedar-like wood scent with a subtle sweetness reminiscent of musk. This strong, pleasant aroma is also known for its deodorizing effect and is traditionally used in countries like India and Nepal for masking odors during funeral rites. For this reason, sandalwood is widely recognized in Japan as a familiar incense for Buddhist altars and cemeteries.

agarwoodagarwood

Agarwood: A Precious Fragrant Wood with Rich Historical Significance

Agarwood, also known as “jinkoh” in Japanese, is a highly valuable aromatic wood that surpasses even sandalwood in rarity and historical significance. Its name comes from its density, as it becomes heavy enough to sink in water. Agarwood takes a very long time to develop its unique fragrance; the rich aroma is produced when resin from an injured tree undergoes transformation due to bacterial activity. Renowned figures throughout history have cherished its scent, which is an elegant and complex blend of spiciness, sourness, sweetness, and bitterness. Due to its rarity and profound fragrance, agarwood is often reserved for special occasions and is a meaningful gift for cherished individuals.

Fire Hazard Warning

3.Ensure the incense is fully extinguished

After use, make sure the incense is completely extinguished before disposing of it. If any embers remain, allow the incense to cool completely in a safe place.

4.Use in a safe location

Burn incense in a well-ventilated area and avoid using it near any flammable sources or in confined spaces. Never leave burning incense unattended until it is fully extinguished.
